Job Purpose
The Commercial Executive – Cocoa Trading is responsible for driving sales and executing cocoa trading activities while ensuring alignment with procurement and operations. The role involves managing the full commercial cycle from sourcing coordination and pricing to contract execution and delivery ensuring profitability, efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Business Development
Identify and develop new business opportunities in local and export markets for cocoa products.
Build and maintain strong relationships with buyers, processors, and distributors.
Achieve sales targets and contribute to revenue growth.
Negotiate contracts, pricing, and payment terms with clients.
Trading & Commercial Execution
Execute cocoa buying and selling transactions in line with company strategy.
Monitor market prices and trends to inform pricing and trading decisions.
Manage the full trade lifecycle from contract negotiation to delivery and payment.
Ensure profitability on each transaction through effective pricing and cost management.
Procurement Coordination
Work closely with procurement teams and suppliers to ensure consistent cocoa supply.
Align procurement volumes with sales demand and contractual obligations.
Support supplier identification and relationship management.
Operations & Logistics Coordination
Coordinate with operations and logistics teams to ensure timely processing and delivery.
Monitor stock levels, order status, and shipment schedules.
Ensure smooth execution of deliveries in line with contractual agreements.
Quality & Compliance
Ensure cocoa meets required quality standards (fermentation, drying, grading).
Coordinate with quality teams to meet buyer specifications.
Ensure compliance with export regulations and documentation requirements.
Reporting & Market Intelligence
Prepare regular sales and trading reports.
Track market trends, competitor activity, and customer insights.
Maintain accurate records of transactions, contracts, and client interactions.
Qualifications and Skills Required
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Agribusiness, Agriculture, or related field
Minimum of 2-3 years' experience in cocoa or agricultural commodity trading/sales
Experience in export markets is an added advantage
Good understanding of the cocoa value chain and supply chain processes
Strong sales and negotiation skills
Commercial awareness and analytical ability
Knowledge of procurement and supply chain operations
Excellent communication and relationship management skills
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Willingness to travel within Uganda to sourcing areas
